WHAT'S MY GIFT PART 1 " 7 Motivational Gifts "

Greetings and Blessings,

I wanted to send a word of encouragement to you today to let you know that you have a gift. Did you know there were 7 Motivational Gifts? When I ask my clients “What is your gift?” quite often they shrug their shoulders & say “I’m not sure”. Well, I am hoping after you read this blog series you will have a better understanding of discovering what your gift or gifts are. Your gift will ignite your purpose. Some of you have innate talents and abilities which can bring clarity as to why God trusts you with a particular gift. It is possible that you have more than one motivational gift.

In this blog we will explore the 7 Motivational Gifts from Romans 12:6-8. First let me just say these gifts are not just tied to motivational speakers, although that’s probably what comes to mind. I think a lot of people are expressing motivational gifts without even realizing they are operating in their true purpose & calling. As you read, take notice that these gifts are meant to encourage, uplift, empower and help people in all walks of life. Take time to read and meditate so that the Holy Spirit can speak to you concerning which motivational gifts you already have.

7 MOTIVATIONAL GIFTS

1.   Prophecy (Perceiving): Inspired by the Holy Spirit to predict or admonish what is to come in the future.

2.   Ministry (Serving): Meeting needs of others in practical and spiritual ways. Helping others in any way you can.

3.   Teaching: Able to explain spiritual truths clearly with simplicity so others learn & understand. Knowing how to teach life, leisure & academic skills in ways where people grasp and acquire easily.

4.   Exhortation (Encouraging): Able to persuade & advise others through encouragement & positivity to do the right things. Also effectively pointing them back to Jesus Christ.

5.   Giving: Having a heart of compassion & understanding to give money or material things to those in need.

6.   Leading (Administration skills): A special ability to understand & effectively execute plans to advance an organization or (churches) goals.

7.   Mercy: Being able to have compassion & empathy when someone is suffering or hurting & help lift their mood.

Where did you land? Do you recognize yourself in any of these 7 motivational gifts? If so, I want to explore how you can understand and use your gift often. When God gives you a gift it is a part of your purpose on earth. It’s meant to improve our world.

Let’s say you discover you have the gift of Mercy, Ministry or Giving, can you see any similarities within these gifts? Even though they all have separate functional parts they also have a few comparisons worth observing. For example, mercy & giving both require a heart of compassion towards other people's needs.

So how do you have a heart of compassion? It’s a gift, however I believe it can also be a choice. We choose who to favor or give empathy towards and that is okay, however with the gift of mercy & giving, showing compassion will come more naturally. The gift of ministry overlaps both mercy and giving gifts. Ministry is what we are all called to do, that is to serve. When we minister, we are spreading the love of God, showing kindness, helping others know who Christ Jesus is and doing whatever we can in the house of faith. If you recognize that you have the gift of ministry, you will agree that serving is not a struggle, but a desire to please God and enlarge the kingdom of our Lord Jesus.

SCRIPTURE REFERENCE: ROMANS 12:6-8 [NIV]

[6] We have different gifts, according to the grace given to each of us. If your gift is prophesying, then prophesy in accordance with your faith; [7] if it is serving, then serve; if it is teaching, then teach; [8] if it is to encourage, then give encouragement; if it is giving, then give generously; if it is to lead, do it diligently; if it is to show mercy, do it cheerfully.

A PRAYER FOR GIFTS

Dear Lord, Thank you for trusting me with your precious gift and allowing me to make a difference. I ask that you give me the courage, wisdom and joyfulness to excel & exercise my gift so that you are Glorified in the earth and pleased with my obedience. In Jesus Name Amen!
